Donald L. Method

Donald L. “Don” Method, 82, died at 11:29 p.m. April 18, 2014, at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital emergency room, St. Marys, following a sudden illness, with his daughter at his side.

He was born May 23, 1931, in Warsaw, Ind., to Burdette Hartman and Helen Louise Crowl Method, who preceded him in death. In 1949, he married Norma J. Slater, who preceded him in death. In 1955, he married Patricia A. Jay, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 3, 1966, he married Letha A. Hager Hennon, who survives.

Mr. Method retired in 1976 with 21 years of service as a Sergeant First Class in the Army at Fort Knox. He had served in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Germany and several bases in the United States. He had worked at Warsaw Plating Works before the service. After the military, he worked as a service manager at Parker Motor Sales and later Fowler’s TV and Entertainment Center, both in St. Marys. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 of Spencerville and a member of American Legion Post 444 in New Knoxville. He loved his family, his home and good coffee. He said that’s all he needed.

Survivors also include four children, Laura L. (Walter) Saladana, of Warsaw, Ind., Kathryn E. (Ray) Saladana, of Winchester, Ind., James M. Method, of Warsaw, Ind., and Sandra L. (Dennis) McLaughlin, of Beaver, Pa.; three stepchildren, Jean Ann (Steve) Turner, of Waynesfield, Richard B. Hennon, of Lima, and William “Bill” (Diane) Method, of Wapakoneta; a stepdaughter-in-law, Lorie Hennon, of Botkins; and seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Kelly B. Hennon; and two brothers, Norman L. Method and Larry D. Method.
