David W. Arnett

David W. Arnett, 77, New Knoxville, died at 12:46 a.m. March 17, 2013, at Elmwood Care Center in New Bremen.
He was born on the family farm Aug. 13, 1935, the son of Wilson and Gertrude Wellman Arnett, who are deceased. He married Thelma Brown on Dec. 1, 1957, and she survives at Elmwood Care Center.

He is also survived by his four children, Kurt (Lesia) Arnett of New Knoxville, Gary Arnett of New Knoxville, Troy (Robin) Arnett of New Knoxville and Angela (Mark) Stammen of Burkettsville; 12 grandchildren, Kelly Welsch, Ashley (Jay) Hegemier, Jamie (Monty) Meyer, Mitchell Arnett, Derek Dicke, Alex Arnett, Austin Arnett, Chelsea Stammen, Taylor Arnett, Kent Stammen, Andrew Arnett and Sarah Stammen; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Elnor “Susie” Tellejohann of Maumee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a 1953 graduate of New Knoxville High School and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was the co-owner of New Knoxville Supply Company, where he was a plumber.

He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, where he had served as an elder, trustee and deacon of the church. He was the former president of the New Knoxville Telephone Company and had served on the board of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of American Legion Post 444, New Knoxville. He enjoyed performing military burial honors with Post 444.
